Miss Sophia's Stories

1. "Yellow"

"Yellow" at LiveJournal
"Yellow" at the Sugar Quill
"Yellow" at Fiction Alley
"Yellow at Time Turner
"Yellow" at FanFiction.Net

Genre: Genfic
Rating: PG-13 for mild language
Pairings: Canon pairings like James/Lily are included, but not the focus; Sirius also flirts a bit with Madam Rosmerta

Summary: "Harry was the most precious thing in the world, standing there, illuminated by the yellow light from above."

Twelve years ago, Sirius Black's world collapsed. Now he must protect the one thing he has left. He travels from Azkaban to Hogwarts, lives in the Forbidden Forest, and occasionally loses himself in murderous hatred. The only thing that keeps him sane is the fact that, without Dementors, he can finally remember.

Current Status: Chapters 1-3 published; I'm currently working on Chapter 4. There will be 17 chapters total.

2. "HermionePotter and the Triumph of Delusion"

"HermionePotter and the Triumph of Delusion" at LiveJournal

Genre: Crack!fic
Rating: R for language, lots of crack, and a rampant case of innuendo
Pairings: Harry/Hermione, Harry/Snape, Harmonians/delusion

Summary: Now that the whole good vs. evil rubbish has been disposed of, Harry can finally pursue his real quest.

Current Status: Completed one-shot

3. "Love Between the Houses"

"Love Between the Houses" at LiveJournal

Genre: Crack!fic
Rating: R for cracktastic house humping
Pairings: Number Four, Privet Drive/Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place

Summary: They were a mismatched pair from different neighbourhoods. But they made sweet love. And Number Four would never forget that night.

Current Status: Completed one-shot

4. "Draco to the Limit!"

"Draco to the Limit!" at Fiction Alley
"Draco to the Limit!" at FanFiction.Net

Genre: Crack!fic, crossover fic
Rating: PG-13 for mild language
Pairings: Homestar/Marzipan (which is canon :) )

Summary: Draco serves detention with Harry in the Muggle Studies classroom and gets sucked into a computer...and the world of Homestar Runner. Hilarity ensues.

Current Status (with the ladies?): Chapter 1 will be posted fairly soon. More details to follow. This story is a crossover crack!fic that is intended to be literary, stupid, and literally stupid.

I didn't know you were at Fiction Alley! I just got my story posted there, too.

Also in the process of finding a place, I found out about Wizard Tales, which has a really quick approval time, usually the same day of submission.

Thanks for the tip about "Time Turner." I'd never seen it before!

Also, where can I find "Draco to the Limit?" You didn't link it anywhere.
Miss Sophia: Maraudersmiss_sophia on February 20th, 2006 03:51 am (UTC)
"Draco to the Limit" isn't posted anywhere yet. I just finished Chapter 1 today (it's been "almost done" since November), and I want to have it beta'ed before I post. I'm going to post on Fiction Alley, FanFiction.Net, and here on my LJ. I'll link it and announce the links when it's up, which will probably be in several days. :) You a Homestar Runner fan?
kressel: update2kressel on February 20th, 2006 03:38 pm (UTC)
I'm looking forward to the fanfic, but what's Homestar Runner?
Miss Sophiamiss_sophia on February 20th, 2006 04:13 pm (UTC)
Homestar Runner is a hilariously absurd Web cartoon with '80s and '90s humour and lots of irreverence. It's not at all obscene or filthy. It's just plain AWESOME. This is a Wikipedia article that explains it much better than I could.

Chapter 1 of "Draco to the Limit!" will be completely readable to anyone not familiar with Homestar Runner, but once you hit Chapter 2, it will seem awfully strange and random unless you're a fan of, or at least familiar with, the cartoon.

Hmm. I'll see if I can learn more. I'd like to read a fanfic about Draco that isn't slash and doesn't pair him with Ginny, a concept that makes me nauseous. Today I read a surprisingly good Draco-Luna pairing, though.

I hope you don't mind if I shamelessly plug. My update of today contains Chapter 4 of my story "Rowena's Quill," but links you to Chapter 1 if you want to begin at the beginning. My first three chapters were from Tom's POV, but this one is from my original character, Sophie Starkle.
Miss Sophia: Ooh Dracomiss_sophia on February 20th, 2006 04:45 pm (UTC)
Draco/Luna? Wow, that's an interesting pairing; it's never even crossed my mind before! Do you have a link?

I think Draco's an absolutely fascinating character, too, and at some point I think I will write some missing moments from his perspective. Yeah, like you, I'm not so much of a fan of slash featuring him. Actually, I'm not really much of a slash or romance reader at all--I'm more of a genfic gal--except when it comes to Remus/Sirius. I have such a soft spot for that pairing. :) Well, for the sake of full disclosure, I suppose there's one other genre in which I adore slash, and that's the crack!fic genre.

To elaborate further on my Draco fic, the main premise is that Draco gets sucked into the Homestar Runner world and has to find his way out. I plan to draw literary parallels to The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland while being both very silly and very true to Draco and the characters in Homestar Runner.

Oh, plug, plug away! Actually, I was just about to get started on your Chapter 1 when my computer told me it wanted to update the software, which required a restart. So I'm gonna head over there in just a bit. I need to take a shower first, as it is almost noon already and I have been a lazyass for far too long!
kressel: update2kressel on February 20th, 2006 05:08 pm (UTC)
Here's the link to the Draco/Luna story.

I hope you do get around to starting my story! The first two chapters are on Fiction Alley as well.
Miss Sophia: Ooh Dracomiss_sophia on February 20th, 2006 06:35 pm (UTC)
That Draco/Luna story rocked! Thanks for the recc!

All right, I'm off to read the first chapter of your fic now! :)
kressel: update2kressel on February 20th, 2006 07:08 pm (UTC)
Yay! Thanks!
Miss Sophia: Maraudersmiss_sophia on February 20th, 2006 03:49 am (UTC)
Yeah, I decided to archive at several places, just because it gives more people an opportunity to read my fic(s). Sugar Quill is kind of a boutique place, which I really like, but I also like the idea of my story having a bit more exposure--not just for the additional reviews (although those are nice :) ), but also because it gives more people an opportunity to view a story that might possibly interest them. I've always appreciated running across stories to my liking.

Time Turner is very boutique as well, but since it was very Marauders centric, I thought it would be nice to archive "Yellow" there.

I've heard of Wizard Tales because they've actually solicited a couple of people I know over at SQ. I'd be interested to hear what you think of them. I noticed that they do a lot of author chats, and I think that's a really interesting feature.
kressel: update2kressel on February 20th, 2006 03:40 pm (UTC)
I found out about Wizard Tales through Madaline Fabray at SQ. So far, I think they're like any other fanfic archive, some good stories, some bad.
