Movie meme, ganked from sea_thoughts
Take 10 of your favorite movies and pick a quote from each one. See if your friends can guess the movie, and when they do, strike them out.

1. "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" genesse

2. "I want to take you out for dinner and then I wanna go to my apartment and watch Kung Fu. Did you ever watch Kung Fu?" cosmorific

3. "Excellent. I won't have this namby-pamby wishy-washy nonsense about not hitting people who deserve it." gunderpants

4. "Oh look, somebody had a visit from the hair fairy!" bookbug87

5. "Yes, it's true. This man has no dick." gijane7702

6. "This is one goddam bitch of an unfortunate situation." katieowrites (But I'm sure you would've known it, tipsytoe!)

7. "He's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. But...is, is he smart, or is he..." gijane7702

8. "Better out than in!" (There are actually two possibilities for this one.) nochenne and cosmorific

9. "She never sleeps." cosmorific

10. "Can I have that? I need something to wipe my ass with." tipsytoe

Comment with your guesses!

Great job, y'alls! And 87 snaps to skruvsta for noticing the quote in the icon. Excellent!

1. is from Rush Hour.

I, unfortunately, suck at these games. I only happen to know that one because I used it in a presentation on imperialism of American culture.
Miss Sophiamiss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:11 am (UTC)
Actually, it's from Rush Hour 2, but you still get credit, especially because you actually used it in an academic context! That's so awesome!

That's OK, I suck at them, too. Over at sea_thoughts's version, I managed to choose the one HP quote and guess that it was from Ghostbusters. *headdesk*

"Better out than in" - Shrek 2?
Miss Sophia: Hagrid's Hut (iconseeyou)miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:20 am (UTC)
Actually, the first Shrek. But you still get credit. (I'm gonna leave it unstricken, however, so that we can see if anyone gets the second movie that appears in.)

Oh, and this post has two clues as to the identity of the second movie.

(Feel like you're on The Quest again? ;) )

Number 3 is totally PoA. That truly is a great line.
Miss Sophia: Kloves Stole Ron's Linesmiss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:22 am (UTC)
Right you are! Yeah, that's one line Kloves actually got right (even if it wasn't actually in canon).

#7 is 'Forrest Gump'

Such a sad scene, Forest all worried that his son is...er, slow.

Dunno how to cross it out :D
Miss Sophia: R/H - actually read the books (Puffs)miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:26 am (UTC)
Correct! I know, I actually cried when I looked up the script on IMDB to find a good quote from that movie. Just reading all those lines from the end.

"I'm not a smart man, Jen-ny, but I know what love is."

PS You actually can't cross it out. I'm the only one with editing privileges. :)
Let's hug it out, bitch.cosmorific on March 23rd, 2006 04:24 am (UTC)
2. Office Space

3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

8. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrrets

9. The Ring
Miss Sophia: Lumburgh - Did you get the memo?miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:28 am (UTC)
Right on all counts, although you were beaten to the punch for #3.

And you got that second possibility for #8! Awesome!

2) Office Space
9) The Ring (I think)

Yep, right on both accounts, although you were beaten to them!

I think #2 is 'The Ring'....

#5 is 'Ghostbusters'

Miss Sophia: Draco + Myrtle - Cheer Up Emo Kids (Puffmiss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 04:36 am (UTC)
Excellent! That was actually the first movie quote that had come to mind for me. We used to say it to tease this dweeby guy in fourth grade, so it got engrained in my memory.

#6 is Pulp Fiction! *hugs*
Miss Sophia: R/S - embrace like bros my ass (Puffs)miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 05:24 am (UTC)

...but...not Pulp Fiction! At least, not that I know of!

Drat, just the tough ones left.
I think #4 might be Zoolander, of maybe Meet the Parents- I know I associate that quote with Ben Stiller somehow.
Miss Sophia: Run Screaming!miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 06:03 am (UTC)
Meet the Parents is correct! One of Pam's relatives say it to Ben Stiller's character when he comes up to breakfast in his PJs and bedhead only to find out that everyone else is showered and dressed.

87 points to Bookbuggyhouse!
pick poppies: Brokeback Mountain / behind hugstipsytoe on March 23rd, 2006 04:05 pm (UTC)

Why was I studying when this happened?!

I missed #6. And I wanted a Brokeback Mountain kick lately. *sobs*

No matter! I'll take #10, please. I love this movie too because another favourite pairing, Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore.

50 First Dates!
Miss Sophia: Brokeback Mountain kissmiss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 08:23 pm (UTC)
I knew you'd like #6. But you have it honorarily. :)

And yay yay yay for getting #10, which is kind of obscure! That old guy in 50 First Dates was hilarious. Yeah, Adam/Drew are such a great pair in the movies. 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer are two of those movies I could see over and over again.

I told my husband that I think 50 First Dates is really profound (it is!), but he didn't believe me. :( Guys just don't have our emotional depth I guess (with the exception of our darling gay guys, of course!).

Can I just say that I am in awe of your icon. I used to go around saying that whenever something slightly strange happened.
I would only have guessed #8 of these, though.
Miss Sophia: Circle Kmiss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 08:59 pm (UTC)
Isn't it a rockin' icon? I grabbed it from somewhere, but credit is probably due to someone out there. Bill and Ted's (both movies) ROX my SOX.

I was gonna add something about bonus points for anyone who recognizes the quote from the icon, but you did it of your own accord. Major props! :)

*goes to add you to the text of the posting for noticing the awesome quote*

I gakked this and varied it, using books instead of movies. But I haven't had a taker yet! Just one person telling me she's stumped!
Miss Sophia: Felix Felicis (iconseeyou)miss_sophia on March 23rd, 2006 09:05 pm (UTC)
Ooh, cool! I'll go over and take a look at it [if my Internet connection maintains itself; I'm currently in class (I know, I know, bad girl), and sometimes it gets spotty in here].
