If only this were the REAL Twilight trailer...
Ganked from nqdonne:

At first, I thought they were splicing footage of the actual trailer into this -- that's how closely the actors here resemble RPattz & co. ...or how bad my eyesight is. Either way, this is far better than the movie could possibly be...although I'm convinced that the movie will have to be WAAAAY better than the book, just because it's hard to suck more than that. Either way, it will be hilariously bad. And I will have to resist the temptation to pay money and see that trainwreck on a big screen.

Having a small child definitely helps. Although there are special matinees for moms with young kids. *shakes head and refuses to fund the SMeyer failchise*

In sleep-related news, Meghan got five hours in a row (of which I got two hours, because I stayed up until past 1 am screwing around on LJ *facepalm*), so perhaps the lack of daytime naps helped. She might have gotten even more, I dunno, but my cat decided to use her litterbox at 3 am and then sharpen her claws on the carpet in the hallway, and she was not quiet about either activity, so that might have been what woke Meghan up. *sigh* It wasn't that big a deal, though, because then she slept for another four or so hours, and then after feeding her, I let her play in her crib by herself while I dozed...after which we both took a nap together on my bed. So I feel a bit more rested! :D

Come on, you know you want to.

We could make SM and WM suffer through it too.
Miss Sophia: Twilight - Edward Maybellinemiss_sophia on August 26th, 2008 06:59 pm (UTC)
...I am so easily swayed.

*sigh* We are so doing this. (Yay, that means I shall see you around November!) But here are the stipulations: For however much I pay for my ticket, I shall donate the same amount to some sort of charitable cause. No, BPAL is not a charitable cause. The money shall go to real charity. Like, starving kids in Africa. That sort of thing. May as well make it hella stereotypical, to match SMeyers's characterizations. It's the only way I can justify this.

And hey, if we can get SM and WM to come with us, more's the better! I'll have to get someone to watch Meghan, though, unless we go to a mommy matinee. (Ha, first the Teletubbies, and then Twilight. Poor Meghan's brain development.) I'd say my mom, but she just might want to come with us! If we can't get SM and WM in on it, SM can watch Meghan.

I'm tempted to wear something outlandish as well. Maybe get a ridiculously sparkly outfit and wear body and hair glitter? But I still need something to make it clear that I'm not a fangirl by any stretch of the imagination. Any ideas?

Oh, you so suck. But we are soooo doing this!

BTW, which bunny is that in your icon? Cuuuuuute!!!!

Yeah, I'll go to the movie. Maybe we should dress up as vegetarian vampires.
Miss Sophia: Twilight - Edward Maybellinemiss_sophia on August 26th, 2008 08:53 pm (UTC)
But we must sparkle like they do!
madame sosostrisshantih on August 26th, 2008 09:11 pm (UTC)
Two words. Body glitter.
Miss Sophia: Twilight - Edward Maybellinemiss_sophia on August 27th, 2008 01:48 am (UTC)
And hair glitter. I'll finally have a use for the can of it I bought from Lush almost two years ago!

Oh, and there will have to be sequins involved.
madame sosostrisshantih on August 26th, 2008 09:14 pm (UTC)
Hm, I could go the Goth-vampire route, or I could wear a flannel shirt and jeans in honor of the Pacific Northwest setting.

Grunge vampire. With body and hair glitter.
Miss Sophia: Twilight - Edward Maybellinemiss_sophia on August 27th, 2008 01:50 am (UTC)
Hahaha, a flannel shirt and jeans wouldn't just be in honor of the Pacific Northwest, because supposedly Bella sucks at fashion.

*dies* A grunge vampire is perfect.

Now I wish I were still pregnant, so that I could wear some kind of shirt with an arrow pointing to my belly and the text "Future Renesme" on it.

We must buy up all the sparkles. Yes!!!!!

OMG, I so want to see this movie now. And I resist reading the book? What is wrong with me? This is beyond amazing. Incredible.

OK. My fever is still high.

This thing is BETTER than the real trailer. (Poor Robert Pattinson: it seems you're too pretty to be alive. Either you get killed tragically or you're undead.) Your icon is SO hilarious - because it's true! WHAT were they thinking with that make up? Robert isn't pale enough for them? It looks like he's in a pantomime!

Awww, you and Meghan napped together? That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Question: are you breast-feeding or bottle? I'm not judgmental, just curious.

The cat is extremely unimpressed you're paying more attention to the baby than her, I'm pretty sure that's it.
Miss Sophia: Twilight - Edward Maybellinemiss_sophia on August 26th, 2008 09:05 pm (UTC)
The best part about the real trailer is that RPattz shows as much inflection in his voice as Keanu Reeves. And the thing is, I simply can't hold him accountable. I liked him as Cedric Diggory, and the fact of the matter is that SMeyer gave him absolute shit to work with (which he essentially acknowledges in a very British way in all of his interviews, which makes me want to bear his sparkly hyper-aging love child).

Heh, if you think his face is butchered in that icon (which I soooo don't take credit for -- it was made by icon_bacchanal), wait till you see him in one of the movie posters. I'm going to make an LJ post with it momentarily.

Yeah, Meghan and I often nap together in the mornings. :) It's nice to snuggle, plus I can nurse her lying down, which enables me to catch some more Zzzzs while she eats. And yep, I'm breastfeeding. It was something I really wanted to do, and I'm really glad I made that choice. :)

HAHA, I know, poor kitty. She and our dog were at my parents' for the last two months, so I think they're both sort of shocked to be back here with a baby who's so much bigger than they remember, and one who actually is paying attention to them now! The cat used to climb up on the nursing pillow when I was feeding Meghan and lie next to her. She would also lick Meghan's hair! It was really cute, but I had to watch her carefully, because when she gets too loving, she starts nipping -- hard -- and I didn't want Meghan to get bitten! Luckily, she never scratches.

I know! He barely moves his lips. But then he knows that all he has to do is stand there and look pretty. Haven't seen the movie posters, but I did see that magazine spread they did for Entertainment Weekly: the only good pic was the one in black-and-white, someone made a snarky joke about it being from "an entirely different movie" i.e. a slasher one where Edward just kills Bella straight off (and there was much rejoicing).

By the way, I saw an extended clip on YouTube called "Ballet Scene". Does Bella really just sit around in the book like she did in the film and breathe heavily, looking scared? And why did she use MACE? Wouldn't garlic or something have been much better? Or are Stephanie Meyer's vampires immune to those things like they are to sunlight?

Yeah, Meghan and I often nap together in the mornings. :) It's nice to snuggle, plus I can nurse her lying down, which enables me to catch some more Zzzzs while she eats.

I bet! And then you wake up and she's fallen asleep, huh? For a while, anyway!

And yep, I'm breastfeeding. It was something I really wanted to do, and I'm really glad I made that choice. :)

I'm glad. I know that sometimes it's not possible but it's always better if you can. :)

Aww, that does sound really cute. I bet she saw Meghan as a new kitten and thought she needed cleaning. *lol* I can just imagine what she and the dog are thinking: "Where did OUR baby go? Who is this huge stranger?" ;D

"an entirely different movie" i.e. a slasher one where Edward just kills Bella straight off (and there was much rejoicing).

He contemplates doing just that about a million times over (as well as killing off an entire classroom full of students, not to mention poor old Mrs. Cope the school office worker) in Midnight Sun (SMeyer's unpublished version of Twilight from Edward's POV -- you can download Chapter 1 of that gem here on SMeyer's Web site; just scroll to the bottom). It would have made for a much better book.

My main suggestion for improving the series is in New Moon. Instead of Bella turning all catatonic and zombielike after Edward leaves her, she should've turned into an actual zombie. Zombies could only have made the series better (although I'm sure SMeyer could have found a way to ruin zombies, too).

Does Bella really just sit around in the book like she did in the film and breathe heavily, looking scared?

Yeah, pretty much. It's a pretty boring scene -- basically, the vampire who's trying to kill her plays the stereotypical baddie by revealing everything he went through to get to her rather than just going in for the kill before someone has a chance to foil his plans. So it's just this lame conversation. At the end of it, she does try to run, but then he steps on her leg and breaks it, and the guy kicks her ass until she is miraculously saved. What great creativity went into it!

And why did she use MACE? Wouldn't garlic or something have been much better? Or are Stephanie Meyer's vampires immune to those things like they are to sunlight?

I checked in my book and didn't see mace in that scene, so it must be something particular to the movie. But you're still right on the money: SMeyer's vampires are not really vampires at all in any traditional sense of the word. But rather than subvert the genre to make it more interesting, she made it utterly boring and retarded (see: SPARKLING).

And then you wake up and she's fallen asleep, huh? For a while, anyway!

Ha, most of the time I'm sleepy enough that I don't really wake up until she decides to wake up! I'll take every bit of sleeping in I can get!

As for breastfeeding, yeah, actually, there was the threat of a medication I was taking for my intestinal issue conflicting with breastfeeding, and that was quite a blow to me -- so much so that I tried to get off the medication and ended up getting sick again. (This was around a year and a half ago, maybe longer -- well before I got pregnant.) But then it turns out that it was OK to breastfeed on the medication, as well as be pregnant on it, so I got back on, and now all is well! :D

The dog is definitely looking at Meghan a bit more strangely, and vice versa. I was a little worried about it, but then the dog attacked Meghan with kisses and Meghan laughed and I knew it was going to be fine.

That sounds SO much more interesting and I would have liked to see Robert do that.

I thought so. The scene was so static. I feel sorry for the actress playing Bella. I mean, what a shitty part. There's absolutely nothing she can do to improve it.

I remember you speaking about that in your previous entries. I can't imagine how upset you were to find out that you couldn't breastfeed your own child. I can understand why you'd try to get off the medication, even if your condition worsened. I'm really glad it worked out.

The dog is definitely looking at Meghan a bit more strangely, and vice versa. I was a little worried about it, but then the dog attacked Meghan with kisses and Meghan laughed and I knew it was going to be fine.

*lol* Well, even if she looks different, she still smells like the same baby. I just have this lovely image of your dog trying to lick Meghan to death. XD

Gah, now I'm tempted! I haven't written HP for ages (outside of RP, that is -- I've written a lot over there), and here I am, thinking about spending my valuable time on Twilight crack. *sinks deeper into the sparkly quicksand*

Well, yes and no. I'm convinced that the movie could only improve on the book. It's that bad.

Now I want to slog through this series just so I can write zombie!Bella for you. *LOL*

I'm convinced that the movie could only improve on the book. It's that bad.

From the clip I saw, I wouldn't be too sure about that. Although it was so weird: I was sitting there thinking, "How can you be so wooden and static and just breathe heavily while this guy is threatening you?" while at the same time thinking, "I bet this is REALLY accurate to the book."

<3333333 AT THE VERY LEAST, SHARE MY PAIN!!!!!

As for Bella, well, it's accurate to the book in a sense. But it leaves out all of the godawful narration, in which Bella thinks about how she's basically ruined the lives of everyone who's come into contact with her. The narration throughout the book is just SO BAD. It's self-inserty, unrealistic, and.... It really defies description. Just think of badfic and you have it!

Oh, worse. Far worse. She and Edward both wangst on in these ridiculous guilt trips about what awful, terrible people they are. It's all an excuse for hurt/comfort.
