Blogging site questions
OK, party people, hopefully y'alls can help me with a couple of questions:

1. For those of you who have paid accounts on JournalFen, how long did it take for your account to upgrade to paid status after you went through the payment procedure? I went ahead and purchased a permanent paid basic account (sucka'ed by icons I inspired again!) several hours ago (using their PayPal system, but not PayPal itself--that is, I used a non-PayPal credit card), but the upgrade hasn't gone through yet. Any idea whether this lag time is normal? Never mind, it just went through. Icons, ahoy!

2. And now a LiveJournal question: How do you add a banner to the top of your site? I don't want a friends-only banner, but I do want to add something pretty Potter to the top of my LJ. I just changed the style again, and while I like it (although I do wanna mess with the colors some--any idea how to do that?), I think it needs something snazzy on top.

Advices are appreciated! Thank ya muchly! :)

For the style you're using, you have to create a separate style sheet, save it to a server, and then link back to the new style sheet (with an image link) in your style configuration. There should be a tutorial in one of the Flexible Squares communities :) If you do a style like mine, I can just give you the code, lol.

Someone else linked me to a tutorial, so ta-da! Thank you anyway, though! :)

I could help you if you want! This is how I put my banner (which I made) on my journal. I've also helped petitecrivan and norwegianblue47 put one on their layouts. Just make sure that your Style System is set to "New System S2", which I suspect it already is. To mess around with the colors, go here and click on "Edit Customizations". This is a great site for finding the right color. Let me know if you have any questions!

Yay! Thank you! Lucky Google search + basic Photoshopping skillz + the awesome banner tutorial you linked = SUCCESS! I also discovered how you can sort of manually set the colors within the Edit Customizations section (by clicking on the "Change" button and then just clicking around on the color maps until you find something that looks good).

Thank you so much! That was exactly what I needed. :)

Oh holy crap! I just went over to petitecrivan's journal to see what you did for her...and OMG I totally used the same banner picture she did. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, because all I did was Google Image the keyword "writing". But still, damn. *feels slightly sheepish, but still loves her banner and will keep it*

Your new layout is so pretty, and orange. :D

I think you basically got it all covered anyway. If anything, I got my help from howto.
